Work in Progress, details will come upon game release.
Previous Projects:
The Hunter: Call of The Wild is an immersive 1st-person hunting simulator that allows players to explore many different reserves around the world, hunting a variety of land animals and birds.
I joined the CotW team in the Spring of 2019 to take over narrative design responsibilities for the Yukon Valley reserve, roughly 2 months into the game’s narrative development. I oversaw all narrative aspects of this reserve and was invited to return for the following 2 reserves: Cuatro Colinas and Silver Ridge Peaks. My responsibilities during this time included:
Character creation & pitching.
Development of the reserve’s core narrative.
Mission design pitching.
Script writing for both the in-game characters and the game’s trailer.
Writing lore entries about the reserves and objects that players could find.
Co-ordinating with art, audio and world design regarding locations for telling our story.
Researching real-life influences for our fictional locations, including reaching out to collaborate with cultural experts.
Voice actor selection.
Voice actor direction (Assisting an external director to give context and game design insight)
Rage 2 is a 1st-person shooter action game that combines fast paced gunfights with vehicle combat and exploration.
My first AAA game experience involved relocating from Scotland to Stockholm, to work as a QA Engineer on Rage 2. I spent over a year testing the game, and was keen to focus on the game’s narrative, becoming the narrative team’s embedded tester. From this role, I was trusted with some small narrative tasks, until in 2018 I was earned myself a transfer into the narrative team as a cinematic implementation specialist. This involved learning how to use our cinematic toolset and some of the wider development techniques required to implement AAA-grade cinematics.
Cinematic implementation.
Writing and placement of narrative pickups.
Character naming & other small-scale narrative tasks.
A large range of QA testing responsibilities, from vehicle and weapon performance to level design and logic exploration.
APB: Reloaded is a 3rd-person MMO where players team up against rivals to take part in massive gunfights, race fast cars and customise your vehicles and characters.
My first role in game development was as a QA tester on the free to play 3rd-person action MMO “APB Reloaded”. It was in this role that I learned the basics of how studios make games, and the challenges involved with their operation. During this time, I was working with a third party QA company called “Proper QA”, and was also involved with the testing of other Gamersfirst produced projects, such as APB Retribution (Mobile) and Fallen Earth (PC)
